The Spirit of St. Charles is a commercial novel about how a natural disaster brings a fun loving city to crime and murder. The life altering changes this brings to a young black woman leads her from living life as a victim to a life of determination and emotional strength. Lara Jackson returns to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, overcoming her own fears about an undercurrent of crime in the city to support her aunt and uncle who have been forced out of their home. The manuscript is complete at 73,000 words with a dramatic flair.
